People experiencing unsheltered homelessness don't even have a roof over their heads at night. Sometimes it's a bridge, sometimes it's a cardboard box. Mental health disorders and substance dependence are rampant. Our street medicine team goes out into the community to wherever people are staying, offering gentle, compassionate care to anyone that needs help. Street medicine is slow medicine, because it takes time to build trust with those who have been failed by so many others.
At Health Reach, we know that kindness, compassion and caring are the best ways we can connect with our patients, and sometimes change a life.
Every person living on the street has a story. We take the time to hear these stories, so we can find the solution that is right for each person.
Our Street Medicine team does work that no one else does, or can. Your support lets us continue this hard, loving journey, knowing that the traditional medical establishment wasn't built to serve these patients. People living on the street die 20 to 40 years earlier than those living in a homeless shelter. Help us turn that around.
Please give today. Helping people off the streets makes all of Rochester healthier, safer and a better place to live.
